If it was pronounced mahr-ee-ELS-uh (like Mari and Elsa smushed together), I'd like it the way I like Mariangela; it might not really be my style, but I'd think it pretty for someone else.
Mary-Ol-sa just sounds like "Mary Olsen" without the N to me, lol.

I agree--the mary-ol-sah prn. doesn't make sense to me. Marielsa (mah-ree-ELL-sah is how I'd say it, too) is rather pretty though. I'm partial to Elsa and Mariela is also quite nice. :)
