What do you guys think of the name Celia? I noticed it was an anagram of my sister's name, Alice. I always wanted to use her name in some way, I have been thinking this might a a good way. Also, I have recently taken a shine to Cecilia, but it has been nixed by the man in my life because of the meaning. Maybe Celia would be a good alternative.
So my questions are:
Do you think it would honour my sister, or is it just a bit corny?
Do you think it sounds too much like cilia?
Can you think of any middle names for it? Mns that can work in Portuguese as well as English are particularly welcomed.
I've come up with a couple of ideas, but none of them really seem right. What do you think?

I've always loved the name Celia, both the sound and the meaning. I never realized it was an anagram of Alice -- how clever of you. Celia definitely gets the thumbs up from me. :-)
From your list of combinations I like: Celia Augusta and Celia Antoinette. Celia Antoinette has an especially nice flow. Here are a few from me, sorry if any are repeats:

using Celia as an anagram of Alice. I'm sure Pavlos the Anagram King would approve! I also honor honoring, even in a sort of sideways approach like this. Points for creativity. :-)
I like Celia mainly as a nn for Cecelia. I prefer Cecelia to Cecilia, because I prn it seh-SEEL-yah, and if the emphasis is going to be on a long E sound in the second syllable, then it only makes sense to me to spell it with an E in that spot.
I agree with Array that using a mn starting with a vowel makes pronunciation awkward. With a 3-syl fn, either long or short names work as mn's. How about

Lol, I was just thinking about how Alice & Celia are anagrams the other day. I think it's a neat way to honor your sister...more like an inside joke way of honoring her, but definitely not corny.
I love both Celia and Cecilia.
I prefer Celia pronounced SEH-lyah (and my family is Hispanic and Spanish-speaking, so that's standard for us). I don't think this pronunciation or the SEE-lee-uh pronunciation should be too similar to cilia.

Using Celia to honor Alice would be a fabulous idea, imo. Not corny. :) I love both Celia and Cecilia, but I agree that "heaven" is a better meaning than "blind". :-/ I don't automatically think of 'cilia', and actually Celia lends to it less than Cecilia, at least spelling and sound-wise.
Celia Eve and Celia Juliet are lovely, and even though I love Augusta, I'm not big on the double -a endings.

I love it. I do not think it's corny, and while it wouldn't count as honouring for me personally, if you'd use it in your sister's honour, then it's honouring for you.
You know what is corny? My favourite Celia combo: Celia Rosalind! :D
I like Celia Delphine, but I wouldn't put a name beginning with a vowel after Celia, because you get an unfortunate little glottal stop if you do.
If you need some help convincing your man that Celia's gorgeous, just pull out William Ernest Henley's "The Ballade of Ladies' Names"--here's the verse that mentions Celia:
Sentiment hallows the vowels of Delia;
Sweet simplicity breathes from Rose;
Courtly memories glitter in Celia;
