[Opinions] Nickname for Colin?
I love the name Colin because it honors my father and my brother and I'd really love to use it in a combo where the initials honor my father (CD) or my mother (CL) so I'll probably use Colin Douglas or Colin Laurence.
But because my father is called Colin and my brother is called Andy (after his MN Andrew) I'd sort of like to have a nickname that could be used sometimes to identify him.
So do you have any suggestions for nicknames for Colin. Or do you think it doesn't need a nickname?
Thanks for any suggestions and help!
Laurie :)

True!
And I desperately hate the "colon" pronounciation. I often think that Colin Powell lets his name be pronounced like that because he got tired of always correcting people on the correct pronounciation. And I do like Cole but really becuase it doesn't have that much in comon with Colin I guess it's really out of the question.
But a nickname from the middle name is a nice idea so if I were to use Colin Laurence the nickname would be Laurie (my name and my grandfather Laurence's nn) or perhaps Loren. I really don't like Doug as a nn for Douglas so if I was to use Colin Douglas there deffinately wouldn't be any nicknames from the MN then.

That's very true, there will be Grandpa and Uncle Andy so my Colin wouldn't need a nickname really. Thanks for the suggestions though, Cole is really cute but on further thought Cole doesn't seem to really be related to Colin at all. :( And after saying Cole I my mouth seems formed to say "colon" which I dispise!
A nn from the MN is a good idea though I don't like Doug, Larry or Lars something like Laurie or Loren would be pretty cute!

I've known several, of all ages, and from the US and internationally. None of them ever went by a nn. It really doesnt need one.
(Sorry for posting this twice, but I thought I'd make it a little more clear)

Colly / Collie is what I'd call him as a pet name, but I don't think it needs an all-the-time nickname.

Agree about it not needing a nn (I'll spare the vent)
Collie reminds me of the dog breed though. Cute though, but that was my first thought.
