[Opinions] Judith
This name has been on my list for ages - it was the name of my father's older sister. (I never met her, she died well before I was born) However, she was quite a woman - of the few women of the 1950s to not only graduate college but go on to medical school. Not only that, she managed to graduate at the top of her class and won several awards. However, lately I've started to love the name for its simplicity and beauty. It has such a rich history, and screams strength to me. The only other female name that has the same feel to me is Miriam. (Katharine and Margaret do as well, but only to a point.) What do you guys think? I would most likely not use the nickname Judy. While it's very sweet, it gives off a feeling of 1950s nostalagia. Other names I like can be found in my profile, though I'm thinking of Judith Veronica currently.

I think Judith is a lovely name, even better for you with the family connection. I see it as a strong and confident name. I like Judy as a nickname too actually, probably since I know a great one...but I think Jude would be a perfect nickname for a little Judith these days. Judith and Miriam would be a sweet sibset.

I like Judith a *lot*. I once had a friend named Judith, and she did use the nick-name Judy.
I would not have used it for a child of mine, given that we live in a French-speaking area; the "th" sound is difficult for even the best Frenc-speakers .

I agree with you. Judith and Miriam would make a nice sibset. Oh, and I'm also with you on not using the nn Judy which totally takes away from the name, imo. Judith Veronica flows quite nicely.

I love the name Judith. My Mum's close friend was named Judith, she was a midwife. It has the same feeling as Miriam to me to.Edited to add: I love Judith Veronica.

I love Judith. I agree that it's very strong and beautiful. With the added family history, it really makes for a fantastic name. I don't liek Judy much at all though. Judith Veronica is gorgeous.

I agree with your opinion of Judith. I get the warm fuzzies for Agatha for these same reasons (simple, beautiful, strong). I think it's the -th- sound. :)I'm also not a big fan of Judy, but I wouldn't mind it. Judith Veronica is really lovely.
