Are there any other nicknames for Joachim that would be accepted in the U.S. besides Joe? Joe is very boring around here because there are countless Joseph's, not to mention I plain don't like the nn. Any ideas?

I agree that Joe is boring - it would be a waste of a good name like Joachim, really. I rather like Kim but I don't know how workable that would be, what with all the female Kimberley's. Jokey might work on the right guy, or even Jake at a stretch.
