[Opinions] Nickname question
I haven't really been able to come up with any nicknames for Joachim (JO-ah-kim) that I like, so I was wondering, could J/Jay work? I wouldn't use it all the time, just occasionally. My friend Michelle has a brother named Justin and his family calls him J sometimes, which is where I got the idea. I could also use the occasional J.P. since my favorite combo right now is Joachim Peter.J and J.P. could work, right? Thanks in advance. :)

I like the nickname Jock. J.P. is fun too.

I prefer J (which I actually use in emails myself) to JP. I've known too many JP's, and they've all left a poor taste in my mouth for the name. (Except JP-II, RIP).

It's not a stretch or anything, but I personally don't really like Jay and definitely not J.P. They're both so impersonal, unoriginal, and cold. I'd rather use Joey, Quim, Kim, Jim, Joke, Jocke, or anything else than Jay which could be derived from any other J name.

Jay is a really cute nickname and J.P. would also be nice. I really like the nickname J.J. (jay-jay) for a little boy and I know his initials wouldn't be J.J. but it would definitely work with any J name I think. I could see where you might not want to use the obvious Jo but what about Chim or Kim? Or you could be creative and call him Mich (or Mick) from the -chim part of his name.Liking Jay best though! Hope this helps to give you some options!

I thought about Mick or Mic actually, but I wasn't sure how usable it was. Good to here it from someone else. :D

J.P is the perfect nickname!

Yes!Personally, I like the nn Jay (or J) for any J name. It works because its simply the letter the name starts with. He could spell it Jay so it looks more offical in school or at the work place if he didnt like going by Joachim all the time.ETA: I love intial nn, and love combos that have a potential intial nn. Jay or JP would work just fine

J would definately work. I love Jared and would totally use J if I were to give the name to my son; it works for any J name. JP could work, too :)

The standard one in Sweden is Jocke. Kim works too.
I wouldn't use Jay (spelled out so) but J. works for any J-name I guess. I have a soft spot for stuff like J.P. ( B.J., J.D., anything really) so that probably gets my vote.
