[Opinions] Scottish boys name
Hi all, I am pregnant with no4 and dh has just put his foot down heavily on the choice of boys name adn the rule is it MUST be Scottish as he is from Scotland and I 'suggested' a move down south before we got married, and he now wants his 'Scottishness' recognised.
There are very few that i like - they are dull or too common (eg there are too many Angus' to consider - dd had 3 in her class last year).
The only 2 that we vaguely agree on areGregor
Dougal (NOT Douglas)mn would be Raymond after my Dad.
I am working on hm to accept Cosmo on to the hospital list but it is not looking good.I want the name to sound good with siblings Iris Matilda (6yrs), Eli David (4yrs) adn Pearl Evangeline (18months).We have a huge girls list, which is also a problem as we love so many!
I will post it another time but today the front runner is Enid Violet, so i would like opinions on this aswell please - we will not consider Violet for a firstname though.
Iris loves Ivy and is already getting a bit stroppy about it. I always thought Iris and Ivy are too close - am i right?thanks all - kooking forward to opinions - i am now going to look at Norse names as apparently he may accept these as options - damn men!!!love Clara

Dougal is a cool name and even though I personally dislike Raymond it's a pretty good combo. Gregor looks weird to me (Gregory is awesome but I guess that's not Scottish enough?)

I like Gregor but not Dougal. I can't take it seriously after Father Ted. (I really, really detest Douglas, though. My sister Louise would have been Douglas had she been a boy ... Thank heavens she wasn't.)Cosmo is a guilty pleasure of mine. I don't like what it represents (I think it's very yuppie) but I love the sound and the alien-esque connotations ;-)

Is Jamie Raymond an option? Though apparently in the US it's becoming a girls name.
I love Enid Violet.For a boy I also like:
Cormag
Gordon
Fraser
Kester
Lachlan
HamishGirls:
Edme
Lorna
Eilidh
Moira
Hope this helps!

I really like Raymond and Gregor (:

I love your taste!Alas, Iris and Ivy are too similar for siblings -- as are Eli and Enid, dammit. What are the other female options? For a boy, I would say Gregor Raymond. I don't suppose Rayner as a fn would work? No, I thought not. Ah, well. Norse, eh? Is Lachlan too popular over there? Here in the US I can't tell.

I really like both Gregor and Dougal, and both sound good with the mn and with your other kids' names, imo. I think Enid is too similar to Eli, personally, and Ivy too close to Iris, too. :-/ Some suggestion for Scottish boys' names:
Tavish
Gus (maybe as a nn for Fergus?)- would fit in perfectly with his siblings, I think :)
Fraser
Munro
Kerr

I really like Dougal and it's so much better than Douglas! Gregor is ok, but I prefer Dougal.

Too bad he won't accept Cosmo, it is fantastic! Esp. with other children's names!

I like Dougal and Gregor. What about Duncan? My husband's family is Scottish and that is our son's middle name. I love it!
