[Opinions] Roswell for a girl? (m)
I had a thought about the name Roswell, which I think is pretty neat, and the thought was could it be used on a girl? Tell me if you think it could work either as a fn or mn.

I'm afraid this one feels distinctly masculine. Be aware that aliens come to mind immedietly when I hear this name.

A little too 'alien-ish' for me. Sorry.:)

There's no reason it shouldn't be given to girls: it's a gender-neutral surname and isn't truly established on either gender. But it sounds to surname-y to me - nmsaa.

It reminds me of aliens, too. I'd use it for a middle name, though, if you really like it.

Neither.Because whenever I see Roswell I think aliens. And thinking aliens leads my mind to drift to The X-Files. That triggers the sad memory of the very last few minutes of the very last episode.- Mulder and Scully talking in a motel room in Roswell. With rain pelting down outside. (Which means so much than just that, since they did that too in the very first episode. But that was in Oregon instead. Also with rain pour outside.)It makes me miss The X-Files more than I usually do. Sorry for the rant but I just miss The X-Files so damn much. And get going about X-Files makes me do that...- Charlie

No. Sorry.I'm not crazy about surname names. There are some that I think could make good names, and Roswell is not one of them. Maybe these:Rosalind
Rosalinda
Rosalia
Rosario
Rosalba
Rosangela

I don't like it, sorry. It sounds very masculine and surnamey to me. It'd be OK for a boy as a mn, but only if it were a family surname imo.I like Roswitha for a girl instead.Miranda

ideasWhy don't you use another name, close to Roswell, but that don't remind of aliens? Some ideas:
Roselle (ro-zel)
Rosabelle / Rosabel (ro-za-bel)
Rosalind
Rosalva
Roswitha
Rowena
Rowina
Raisel (rie-zul)

I always think of aliens and that place in New Mexico. I don't like it for a boy, and I really wouldn't like it on a girl.

Eh. It doesn't do much for me on either sex. Reminds me of aliens and such. Isn't there a show on the WB called Roswell?

It reminds me of aliens because...of the whole Roswell incident in Roswell, New Mexico. I like the name, though.

As is typical with me and most surnames, I prefer Roswell on a boy, and would prefer that it not be used on a girl. No offense to anyone who thinks differently, though.
