I don't like it at all for a girl, but it's a little more appealing for a boy imo. However, it's mostly accepted as a girl's name, I think, so a boy with this name may have problems with that as he grows up (people assuming he's a girl when they see only his name, etc.). Though, I knew a little girl whose middle name was Sommer, spelled like this, and pronounced just like Summer. It was her mother's maiden name, I believe. I think that would be awesome for a boy--Sommer. Though it does lose it's "seasonal" meaning then, though.

P.S.Well, turns out that Sommer is the German form of Summer, so it doesn't lose its' season meaning after all. Though this site has it listed solely as a feminine name in either form.

I think Summer is a little tacky, but for some reason I prefer it on a boy, although I wouldn't use it.

I think it's way to feminine for a boy, but I love it for a girl. I do think SUnny is very cute as a name though.

I think the right guy could pull it off easily. I've never been a fan of seasonal names on girls anyway (the -er endings of Winter and Summer don't seem feminine to me, and Autumn isn't much better). The name's not great on either gender, but could definitely work. It might be refreshing to see the name on a boy as well, because it's so overused on girls.

I don't really like it for either gender. It's always sounded a bit flaky to me. But I do prefer it to Autumn but prefer Winter as a name over both of them, don't know why.

I don't like Summer on either gender. Although, I have always like Autumn better on boys.

Eh... it's alright.I personally wouldn't use it because I'm picturing a certain type of person, but allowing that the boy is named today and not twenty years ago (like the one in my imagination), I think it has potential. It doesn't quite pass the president test, and in 35 years it probably won't either -- but I'm not making any predictions. It could grow on me. - chazda

Oddly enough, I really like this. Certainly, it's more dominant as a feminine name, but I think it'd work on a boy. It sounds very much like a free-spirit and, perhaps, slightly "hippie-ish".And I adore the nickname Sunny. :)

I love it!I think this name would make a nice and unique choice for a boy. The only thing is that it sounds slightly hippieish (good or bad, depending on who you are).
