It is a bit dated, but not in a bad way, I don't think. I prefer Kimmie or Kimmy, or just Kim; Kimi is okay. I think most young women will outgrow Kimmie/Kimi by age twelve and switch to Kim or the full name Kimberly . . . if not by 12, then by 20.Personally I don't care for the name Kimberly, for two reasons: the -berly part of it is unattractive to me, like the words burly and cumbersome; and because of a very bad personal experience with a very bad Kimberly, that is of no consequence for you of course.I like Kim and Kimmie though. A couple Kims I grew up with were very cool people; there's Kim Basinger; and there's figure skater Kimmie Meissner, who is slightly annoying but lends dignity to an otherwise somewhat childish name (she's pretty young herself, and I'm betting she will switch to Kimberly when she's fully grown). - chazda
