SAMARA is not Hebrew, at least not the way it is spelt here. "Protect" in Hebrew is "shamar" with a Schin at the beginning. But it's not really a big step from Sh to S, so maybe it's just a variant.
I would still take it as the feminine form of Arabic SAMAR (or SAMIR) "intimate night talk". (Hanks & Hodges '92 only have SAMAR as a feminine name though).
