Help[Opinions] Charlotte.
I know we've been over this one before, but I wanted to bring it back up and get an update on people's thoughts about it.
I keep coming back to this name - despite the occasional urge to abandon it for various reasons. I'm wondering if any of my reasons for abandoning it are shared by others.. I don't really want to let it go.
Why do you like or dislike it, what impressions do you have, and what is your perception of how popular it is where you live (and how popular it'll become in the next 10 years)?

I love it.
Its climbing up the popularity ladder somewhat quickly, though. I honestly think it might make it to the top 10 in about 5-10 years.

I am afraid it's becoming trendy, but it's still quite uncommon where I live, though very recognizable.
I've started loving it in the last few years, but I'd probably use it as a mn, only because there are other names I love more that I'd like to use as fn's.
One problem with it, that is a teasing possibility, is that it rhymes with "harlot". :(

I know two Charlottes. One Charlotte is my Dad's cat. The other Charlotte is my Uncle Ed's new wife (of one year). Charlotte the person is a part-time construction worker, very earthy, blonde curly hair and easy to like. It's very strange because my Uncle is very intellectual and his ex-wife was very uptight (which is why Charlotte is probably a welcome change).
I love this name. I think it's very beautiful, pleasant to say and timeless. I think it will endure even through its current popularity boom.

I love the name Charlotte. It's classic and elegant. It can sound a bit snooty but not so much that I would take it off my list for that reason alone.

I like Charlotte (and I think people have started to warm up to it more and more very recently).
There's of course the book Charlotte's Web. But when I used to hear the name, I couldn't get Mrs. Garrett from Facts of Life from popping into my head (actress Charlotte Rae). But because of the singer Charlotte Church, as well as the character on Sex and the City, I think now people may have started to associate the name with attractive young women rather than a dowdy older lady.
There's of course the book Charlotte's Web. But when I used to hear the name, I couldn't get Mrs. Garrett from Facts of Life from popping into my head (actress Charlotte Rae). I love it! I'm not particularly keen on the nn Charlie, but it's gorgeous on it's own and I love the nn Lottie (Partly because of good association!). It's not too popular where I am; I know of one that is my age, and one that is about 17/18, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

I really like my name and consider it to be very versatile. Although I always go by Charlotte, I could also go by Charlie or Lottie, both of which fit in with the trend of "ie" names.

Some of the popular names are the same for the U.S. as in the U.K., but overall you guys have better taste, imo. LOL

I never thought of Charlotte as very popular and would be surprise to see it rise greatly in the next 10 years.
I am not sure why I like it, but I do. One reason might be the nn Char. There is a lady at my mom's work, not considered a secretary, but close enough for this point. Anyway, when my mom was new, Char was the one that helped her out, and they have a close relationship, despite the major difference in the company position. Anyway, even though Char has had problems and made mistakes, she has one child, never married and would do anything for anybody. I never really liked the name, but Char is nice in my opinion, and the relation I have to it makes it even better.
I dont know if I will ever use it, not really my style so much, but I would never discourage anyone from using it, and I would never say no to using it myself.

I love this name. It's very strong and feminine and not too common where I am. My best friend, 36, is named Charlotte and she has always loved having her name. The only other Charlotte I've ever seen was a 2 yr old recently at the YMCA. She was there with her older sister Lindsay.

I like both names-Lindsay and Charlotte. But they seem mismatched as siblings, don't they?

I love it! It's been one of my favorites for a long time. I have never met anyone named Charlotte, and I don't think it's very popular where I live. If I used Charlotte, I'd probably use the nickname Carly. :)

I think it is very sweet. I come back to it often also. I don't think I would have liked it five years ago but now I think of the character of Charlotte on Sex and the City who was beautiful and upper class. So I get a great image in my mind of the name. I like the nicknames of Carly (a bit of a stretch I know) and Charlie is kind of cute but I detest Lottie. It sounds like an old frumpy woman to me! I can't imagine a teenager named Lottie!!

I agree that Carly isn't a stretch as a nn. I've heard of Carly for a nn for Charlotte before, and it's the one I like best (besides not using one at all), although Lottie and Charlie are OK.
I never watched Sex & the City (unless the rest of the world, lol), so I don't connect the name with the character on that show. So therefore it's unspoiled for me. :b

I love this name too, btw, and Carly is not a stretch for Charlotte! I think it's great :)

I love the name.
I looked after a baby whose name was Charlotte, and everyone called her Charley (spelt that way)..
She's a complete brat but it still didn't put me off..
It's a big contender for at least a mn for me..... :)

I really like Charlotte. It was my favorite girl's name for a long time.
I guess I like it because it sounds nice and sweet. I also love it with the nn Lottie, which sounds strong and independent. I associate those things with Lottie because I learned about the missionary Lottie Moon in a church group I was in when I was little.
I've never known anyone named Charlotte. I don't think it's too popular here right now, but the popularity rankings show it's more popular than ever, and I think it will continue rising.
I guess I stopped liking it as much because its sweetness started to sound weak and kind of bland. I still like it, but it's lost some of its charm. I still love Lottie, but I don't know if I'd want to use a nickname as a full first name.

It tends to automatically remind me of Charlotte's Web. However it is a very nice name.
