It's not bad. I've always liked it because it's recognizable but not trendy or overly common. But I also do not love the sound of it at all, unfortunately. Brings "retching" to mind. I also have known only about 2 Gretchens, and they were both snobby or bratty. I prefer Greta. :)

I love Gretchen. I think is adorable on a little girl and it ages really well.

I love it! The Gretchen I know is spunky, interesting, and gorgeous. Although some people think of Gretchens as being blonde, the one I know has reddish-brown hair and bright green eyes. I can't imagine another name on her--it just suits her perfectly.

I LOVE this name. I love the way that it looks and the way that it sounds.... buuuut a lot of people have told me that they dislike the name. I've heard a lot of people make comments that the "wretch" in it is particularly displeasing.

I guess it's not my favorite in sound, yet I still find it pretty because the two Gretchens that I've known in my life were both really pretty girls. Blonde and German!
