Liam
Would you just use Liam as a full first name or name a son William and call him Liam? I'm not sure which I would prefer. I love the name! What are your thoughts on it? Thanks!

Love it. It's always been a fave of mine and I prefer it as a full fn, rather than a nn for William. I think if you call a child William and you want a nn, use Will! Anyway, Liam is great and I think if you really like it, then use it!

I prefer William with Liam as a nickname. I don't think nicknames should be planned by the parents, but left up to the child. I also don't think the choosing of a formal should revolve around a nickname.

I LOVE the name Liam! I really prefer Liam as a name by itself, using it as a nickname takes something away from it. I really like the combo Liam Christian.

I would use just Liam. In the English I speak, Liam isn't a natural nickname for William -- Will is. I actually think of Liam as an independent name based on William, rather than as a short form of it, because that's the only way I've ever encountered it.I like it alright. An old friend of mine recently named her son Liam. - chazda

(my opinion only of course)If going to use the name Liam at all, it is only acceptable as a nn. William is such a wonderful name itself, no nn is needed. However, if going to call a son Liam, name him William, and use Liam as the nn. Its a nice change from the ever popular Will, but Wiliam is much more perfered.
