Opinions on Azalea?
What does everyone think of the name Azalea? It's a type of flower.

I think it's maybe a little on the frilly sound, but I do think it's great on someone else's child.

I don't care for it myself. I think it's because we had azalea's at my house growing up and they were a pain in the butt. (Sorry)
I prefer other flower names, like Violet...
It's not the worst name though, and could work on the right person.

It's a pretty word and a lovely flower. Could work as a name.

Azalea prononced ah-zah-lee isn't my style, but ah-zah-leh-ah (like the fn Lea, with a "e" like in "pet") is very nice to me.

There must be regional/global differences in prn. I see this site lists it as Pronounced: a-ZAY-lee-a, but the way I've always heard it in the middle of the US and the way it's listed on dictionary.com (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=azalea) is 3 syllables long and prn like "ah-ZAIL-ya" (or something like that -- I can't seem to paste in symbols from their site.I hadn't pondered the other possible prns but I think the 3 syllable one is pretty. I like flower names, and think it would a lovely name.

I like it, but it's not my favourite. It could grow on me more though. I'm so-so on its meaning, "dry", but I suppose that could depend on the context.I think Azalea's style is halfway in between Victorian and hippie. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it that does make the name sound a little odd to me.I pronounce it a-ZAY-lee-a, btw.Miranda

How do you pronounce it? I'm not familiar with the flower, so I don't think I've heard it pronounced before.

It's not my style. I don't like the sound of it, nor how it looks. Sorry.
