Kip
Wdyt of Kip? Not for a full name, but for a nickname that a child is usually called by.What, other than Kipling (which I really don't like), could is be short for? I like Kippen, but most people do not. -Seda*

Kip is cute! One of my favorite teacher's was named Kip. I think there was also a character on the cartoon Futurama named Kip.Kipling is great and Kippen is okay. You just like it cause it sounds like Pippen ; ) hehe, j/k

Kip is not really my style, but I have a friend whose name is Kristina who goes by Kip. The nickname is barely related to her name itself. Her grandmother gave it to her intending it to stand for "Kristina is patient." It stuck because there were so many Kristina's at her school. I guess my point is that you can nickname a child whatever you want without it having to fit his or her formal name perfectly.

I like Kipling even if it's nms, but Kip is nmsaa, and Kippen is bad to me.Claire

I think Kippen is nice. It's nms, though. It makes me think of napoleon dynamite!

I don't like it at all.

I used to like Kipling, with Kip as a nickname, but not so much anymore. I don't think a formal name choice should revolve around an already chosen nickname, but I don't care for Kippen, either. Maybe Kipper, but that's a type of fish, so I don't care for it.

Christopher and Christian could be full names for Kip. Another could be Kirby, or even Cätälin (Catalin) (possible male form of Katherine, which can have Kit as a nn--and Kit is also a nn for Christopher, as well as sounding very similar to Kip).I like the name Kip, but only as a nn.Miranda

I love Kip, and I would use it as a nn for Crispin. Although it's a bit of a stretch, I suppose it could also be short for Caspian.

I love Crispin! I've never thought of that though.
Caspian is nice too.-Seda*

Yes, Caspian!I like Caspian, but not Crispin. FWIW, actress Hayley Mills has a
son named Crispian; sort of a combo of the two, lol
;-)I guess, though, that Kip *sounds* more like a nickname for Crispin
than for Caspian...DH

Isn't it a nn for Christopher? I could be wrong, though.

I've heard it used as a nn for ChristopherIt's just not very common. I think it was more common in a bygone era.
