Dana for a boy
WDYTO Dana for a boy? My aunt is named Dana and she spoiled the name for me on girls, but I think it's fresher on a boy.~ Cait

I have a relative named Dana but HE spells it Diana. I personally don't like it on a boy. To me, the name Dana sounds to feminine. I love it on a girl though!

It's terrible to me, sorry. I love Dana on a girl though.

I don't like it for either one.

Since it is my name I think it sounds feminine and like it.
A good friend of mine told me that growing up in the South, there were many boys named Dana.

It's probably more interesting on a boy, but I dislike the name full stop. (As for the gender, I definitely consider it unisex.)I do love the Celtic name Danna (DAN-a, rhyming with Hannah) for a girl though.

I think it's ok for either gender. I know a man named Dana and he named his son Dana Jr. but they call the boy D.J.

I know one girl Dana and one boy Dana. I also know one girl Dayna. I usually think of it as a girl's name when I hear it, but it's not bad as a boy's name.

I know a male Dana, but I think it's too feminine for a male. But, I don't like it for a girl, either.

I like it on boys too. I've only met 2 Danas personally in my whole life, and one was a boy. He'd be about 30 now.. the name was unusual then, as well, although glancing at the pop chart, not as unusual as I'd assumed. If I used the name it'd be for a boy, but I like it on girls fine.I'd kind of prefer Daina on a girl (unless someone tells me that it's prn differently from Dana). - chazda

I know 3 Dana's ~ 1 girl, 2 boys. I knew one of the boys first, so for me Dana on a girl sounds like a boy-ish name; I like it on either sex.Mind you, I said boyish; not masculine, just boyish. I feel the same about Rory, Robin and Tracy-with-a-Y. DH :-)

I love Dana for a boy! Like you, although the name is legitimately unisex, I find it fresher on a boy.

My name is Dana so when I met boys named Dana I think its weird. I wouldn't use it on a boy because I think that its a feminine name. But then again I am kind of biased towards it being a girls name.

Dana is 100% feminine to me because of the -a ending. Dan or Daniel is all right for boys.
