Finley
Ok, I'm watching the finale of Project Runway and Finley (not sure about spelling) is the name of the daughter of one of the contestants. Wendy--who is not especially well-loved in the Project Runway circles, btw :b -- has a cute 5-year-old daughter named Finley. But I had to cringe at the name. That's one of my favorite BOY names! Yet another loss to the girl's side? Oh well. Does anyone here like it for a girl? It's not the worst unisex name I've ever heard, but I don't want it totally going over to the "girl's side" either. lol**I prefer it spelled Finlay, and for a boy. So we'll just call Finley the feminine version. :b Even though I don't know how this particular Finley's name is spelled (could be Finlay, Finlee, Finnleigh....who knows).

Well, to me its a surname & therefore more unisex, which suits me just fine I like the name for either gender - with a slight preference for it on a girl.

I like it on a girl.I remember a girl on home and Away and her name was Finlay (not sure on the spelling) ive never heard it on a boy.Changing the subject alittle, I think most names are made feminine like my son Alex and Other names such as Peta are used on girls now. My fav boys name at the moment is Brook and a lot of people say isnt that a girls name? which it is and also masculine but does it matter that much when most names are now used on either sex?

comment & questionI don't really like Finley on either sex. Finlay's is the name of kinda crappy local chain restaurant here. And my question. I can't remember if this is me making up stuff or if I actually heard this somewhere. How is your name pronounced, Isla? Is it like iss-la or eye-la (like isle+a)?

Isla = EYE-lahLike the word "island" without the "-nd", pretty much. LOLBut my real name is Heather. :) Isla is my favorite girl's name (has been for 2-3 years) but I'm torn because of this exact problem, the pronunciation. But spelling it any other way isn't an option for me, either. So we'll see. No buns in the oven at the moment, so it's not a pressing problem for now. :b

I don't really like Finley, but I like it even less on a girl. I can at least stand it as a boys name.

I love the name

I don't care for the name, but it's strictly a boy's name to me, even if I find Finn- names weak. But, it's too masculine for a girl.
