I adore Bartholomew- it's my favorite name right now. :-) The nn Barty is nice, though I prefer either the full name or Thol. Felix, unfortunately, makes me think of cats, and Kai seems more like a nn.

Mm, Bartholomew is somehow humorous to me. It's just so long, so full of letters, and the "mew" sound is whiney to my ears. I like Barty, but not enough to use its full form.In theory I suppose Bartholomew is intersting, and I want to like it, but I know that if I was walking down the street and heard a mother call "Bartholomew!!" to her child, I'd secretly think "how pretentious".I do love both Felix and Kai.Edited to add: This could be very far-fetched on my part, but I don't know if I'd want the "mew" part of the first name, next to Felix. Since both "mew" and "Felix" could bring cat jokes individually, it might be tempting fate to put them together.

I love the name. I'm not crazy about the usual nn Bart, but Bartholomew is great. I'll have to think about Barty as a nn . . . .

I adore Bartholomew. I think it's great--Bartemius doesn't do it for me. Bartholomew has such an off-kilter sound; there aren't too many names with "mew" in them! :)Plus, I really like the nickname Tolly. In general, Bartholomew "Tolly"--all fantastic, all wonderful. I don't like Barty at all. Too similar to Bart, fart, and barfy, unfortunately.Array
