just like raistlin, maharet carries certain baggage. better to not name your child after a book character, at least one with such a unique name (raistlin is a fantasy name, which are often cobbled together from random syllables, and maharet is one of anne rice's mangled names, like lestat.)consider my friend cesare. that's a female name. i thought it was a very pretty name, then i saw 'the cabinet of dr. caligari.' cesare (male character) is a somnambulist who commits murder at the order of his master. the next time i saw my friend cesare, i asked her where her name came from. she said it's the name of a (female) historical romance novel character.

It makes me think of the Anne Rice character... I dislike both Mekare and Maharet.

I don't care for it. For some reason, the word parakeet came to mind. It has a more "place name" feel to it. And, I find it close to the word Mahrati (the language of Maharashtra), for some reason.Would it be for a boy or a girl?

Maharet is very nice. It would most likely be difficult for a young child to grow up with though.

It sounds really close to Margaret but I prefer Margaret. I don't like Maharet.

I'm not fond of it. Is it a form of Margaret? If so, that's probably why. I just don't like that name.-------------------------------------------------

Maharet would be fantastic if it weren't a character (I'm not fond of Anne Rice) I like it much better than the similiar MargaretAlice
