I love it. I don't tend to make that association, though it is obvious. I just never think about it when I hear the name.

Hello people! :)My name is Marina and it's very nice to see that many of you like my name!;-)I come from Russia and the name "Marina" is not very often here.
When I was little I didn't like my name that much and thought it sounded a bit hard, but its meaning "The one who came from the sea" has always fascinated my imagination! Now I'm 22 and I'm very happy with my name!I have always dreamt of the Sea ans I have always had a beautiful feeling that the Sea will bring me something very important, my happiness and my love. And that dream came true: my only love, my dear husband Florian comes from a little island named Borkum in the North Sea!
And it was the Baltic Sea where we saw each other for the first time!
He is in love with my name and says it sounds so beautiiful, feminine, noble and romantic, that's why it suits me so wonderful!Warm greetings from Moscow

YES! I LOVE this name. It's beautiful and feminine, has a lovely meaning, and it's not popular or trendy. I don't think of the boat at all. I would quite possibly use it for a future daugter.

I prefer Martina. There's something...fishy...about Marina.

I love it. I think it's a beautiful name. The association wouldn't stop me from using it. There are a lot worse associations.

I dislike it, even if it weren't for that association.

No, I don't like it because it's a word to me - not a name. I see it only for its noun quality.

Yes, it's lovely. I don't think of boat docks at all :-)_____________________________________________________________________"There are few more distressing sights than that

I have a beautiful little three year old cousin with that name so I think I'm more than a little biased. When I think of it I think of her and her big blue eyes and her blonde hair. She's like a little cherub. So, yes I like the name. Even before she was born I liked the name and I didn't really mind the boat dock association.

Yes, I really do like it. :) But I'm a bit biased, since I have a twenty four year old cousin with that name. :)

Yes, I love it. I don't even mind the dock association because I love the water, boats, etc... It's such a pretty, feminine name.

It's a pretty name, but I have a few problems with it because of a girl I use to know with this name. Actually - before I met the girl, now it always reminds me of her - I didn't think of a dock when I heard this name I always thought of the ocean or sea and it's beautiful green color.---------------------------------------------------------------------

But that's probably because my name is Marisa and Marissa means marine of the sea or color of the sea or something about the sea, maybe just of the sea. I know this says differently but Marisa and Marissa in italian are varients of the name Maris. And Maris has a connection to the name Mary. Maris means "of the sea", taken from the Latin title of the Virgin Mary stella maris, meaning "star of the sea". Also one of Mary's meanings is "sea of bitterness".Just mentioning this because I thought you might like the name Marissa or maybe Stella Maris or Maris.---------------------------------------------------------------------
