Ekatera
First off, let me say I don't intend to use this for a child. :P Maybe a character of some sort...I was researching the origins of my name, going beyond the BtN entry because it wasn't complete enough for me, and I found that it likely had two names that influenced the usage of the name: Hecate and Hekaterus. Hecate comes from an Indo-European root meaning "out" or "afar", and Hekaterus means "hundred wonders" in Greek.I was mulling all this over in my head, and Ekatera occured to me. It would mean "far away wonders" from the roots eka- "afar" and -tera "wonders". WDYT? How would you pronounce it? My first inclination is eh-KAT-er-ah, (which would probably be more authentic, as authentic as a name like this could get...) but eh-kah-TER-ah is nice too.

I would pronounce it eh-KA-ter-a, and it's really rather pretty, imo.

Er, pregnancy's messin' with my mind...thought I responded to this earlier!I'd prn Ekatera as eh-kah-TER-ah. I agree that it sounds great for a character; I personally wouldn't use it IRL, but the right person could pull it off. :o)
