Markel?
How do you prn it? MARK-el? mar-KELL? Curious, b/c whilst I love Gideon Marcus, DH doesn't really care for Marcus. I don't want to use just Mark / Marc, b/c it doesn't seem to flow as well, so I was thinking maybe Gideon Markel would work? Problem is, I've no idea how to prn it! Opinions and suggestions welcomed. TIA. :oD

I like Gideon Mark much better than Gideon Markel, actually. Markel just looks sort of made-up and modern to me. :-/

Oh :(I was rooting strongly for Gideon Marcus. They're two of my favorite names. I would say mar-KELL, and it works all right as a replacement for Marcus, but Marcus is just fabulous.Maybe he'll come around to Marcus eventually though :)

Here's hoping.Besides, our standing deal is that if one parent picks the fn (in this case, he picked Gideon), the other parent picks the mn. ;o) Plus, after each of our other children were born, DH pretty much said, "It's your choice." Something about seeing me in labor, I think... ;o)

I say mar-KELL, just by looking at it.I have no idea if that's right, but that's what I would say if I was reading the name in the newspaper or something.

mar-KELIt reminds me of "marker" or "market". Maybe use Marko/Marco?
Sorry if I wasn't much help.

Hmm.Marko / Marco actually reminds me more of marker than Markel does, b/c of the emphasis on the 1st syllable. I quite like Markel, actually! I could probably use Marquette, too, but that's really similar to market! ;oP

Then use Markel! :) It all depends on what YOU want. Honestly, I'd rather you use Markel than Marquette, and Markel does go with the first name, so it's not like it doesn't flow or anything.
