Santiago
Do you think that the name Santiago would work on a Dutch kid?
I personally love the name, but always see it on a black haired Spanish person. I'm worried that the name might be a little out of place on a blonde haired child (I'm blonde btw, and unless the father is black haired, it's unlikely my children will ever have dark hair). Also do you prefer Santiago or Tiago or maybe even Diego, Jago or Iago? Do you prefer Boaz, Thor or Santiago/Tiago for a Dutch child?
(mns will probably be Marino Constantine, if it makes a difference)

I love Santiago and I think It could work well for a Dutch boy, I suppose that because my family is mostly Dutch but many generations back, on of my great-grandfathers married a SPanish woman so they have often chosen Spanish names, but I still believe it could work because it has worked in my family and its not like family history is explained every time they tell someone their names.

I think any name can work on any child

How about Boaz Santiago Marino Constantine? It's rather long, but it flows.I think a Dutch child could be called Santiago, but I love Boaz :)

Good idea, my name isd Marjolijn Maria Johanna Catharina, so it would take a really long name for me to be intimidated by it :P
I'll choose flow over the sensibility of a name anyway.

I'm not Dutch, but I think the name has an international feel to it. It makes me think of a dark-haired person, too, but I don't find that there would be anything weird about a blond Santiago.Santiago is a lovely name - I'd use it in a heartbeat. I also adore the name Iago, and Tiago as a NN for Santiago.

Of those, Thor would seem the least likely to stick out in the Netherlands (or any northern European country really, I suppose). That said, I don't think there's anything about Santiago that should present problems for a Dutch speaker - after all, it's spelt pretty much phonetically so there's not much room for mispronunciations. And I honestly don't see that the kid's hair colour will make any difference. It's a cool name no matter who's wearing it.Definitely Santiago rather than Tiago. I also love Iago, but whilst he's a brilliant character it's not a great namesake.
