Meischarla
From That's Life. An Australian Magazine."What's in a Name: Meischarla.
My mother came across the name Michala but she pronounced it wrong. However i really liked how it sounded - it was the perfect name for my new daughter"It took be a long time to (possibly) figure how they were pronouncing it. Mee-Sha-La?The spelling isnt intuitive. I want to say Mees-Cha-la with a hard c, like in Charlie.Anyway - WDYT?

It makes me think of 'my Sharla' but I think it is supposed to be pronounced May-shar-lah. I don't know how you can see Michaela and get that name out of it though.

I thought it was to be pronounced Meiskarla, and it sounded to me like an archaic name of sorts. And it sounds like a mix match of 'Archangel Michael'.

Mei to me = MY like in "meiosis" - particularly with the "sch" instead of "ch" or "sh" - "sch" encourages a German type pronunciation.
So I read it as "my-SHAR-la"

Perhaps she pronounced Michala mee-CHA-la, but the new spelling certainly doesn't clarify anything at all.
