Auberon
WDYT of Auberon nn Ron? I really like the nn Ron (and not because of HP) but cannot stand Ronald (partly because of Ronald McDonald) Or is Auberon too much as a fn?

Very nice. Auberon has a great sound and looks very handsome, and I think Ron is a fine nn. :)

It definitely works and I think it sounds much nicer than Ronald.

It's okay. Auberon reminds me too much of Oberon, which is a citrus beer made by a local brewery. It's pretty good though.

How about the name Aleron? It can also be spelt Aileron. Some websites say its a Latin name, others say its French. Either way you could use the nn Ron with it.

Ailerons are parts of airplane wings, so I wouldn't use it. :-(About Auberon: As soon as I got past pronouncing it wrong and actually said 'O-bur-ahn', I began to like it. It may grow on me...ETA: At least, I'm pretty sure ailerons are part of airplane wings...

You might be right, I do remember reading something like that. Wouldn't be surprised though seeing that Latin meaning for Aleron is 'winged one'.
