WDYTO Meredith?
It's the only thing I can think of that sounds like Mary that I like as a first name. What characteristics would you associate with this name? Is she pretty or stupid or...? Anything that comes to mind.

To me Meredith would be blonde and tall, very beautiful and elegant. She would be clever and successful with a strong business mind. I think of Meredith Blake from 'The Parent Trap' :)

Actually, it's my name. I would think of it as a strong, intelligent name. I love my name, and would never change it. I think it ages gracefully, and your child would love it. My nickname is Merrie (pronounced Mary).

I like it. I would like it a lot if it weren't for the fact that it's technically a masculine name.

I like Meredith bunches. I picture her as pretty, of average intelligence, and tends to be unintentionally snobby sometimes.

Meredith seems dated to me...like the name Heather. They seem to be very similiar in style imo. I think that a Meredith, like a Heather, is sort of ditzy and naive but a bit slutty. That is only my opinion though, and I am sorry if that bothers you but that is just the vibe I get. Meredith also seems to be the name of a few dogs I have known.

I prefer Meredith for a boy. My top combo used to be Charles Meredith. I'd be inclined to pronounce it meh-RED-ith as Welsh names are usually stressed on the middle syllable on three syllable names (Caradoc = kah-RAD-ok, Ceridwen = keh-RID-wen etc) but I also like the MEHR-eh-dith pronunciation. He'd be rather eccentric, rather like a mad professor sort.
