Marcella & Cyrilla
WDYT? Are they too masculine in meaning that even in the feminine form they are unuseable? What middle names would you use? I'm thinking short and feminine like Mae, Sue, Eve, Grace or Faith

I think Marcella is a very attractive names.Marcella Eve would be fantastic.Cyrilla is a little harder to pull of, it seems almost shrill, to me. Cyrilla Leigh, perhaps?

I generally don't let meanings get in the way of a name if it has positive images / associations for me. (Did I just say that on an etymological site?) Marcella makes me think of ancient Rome - always a fun proposition. Marcella has a beautiful sound and is one of those buried treasures waiting to be rediscovered. Love it. Marcella Eve
Marcella June (variant of another Roman name, Juno / Junia)
Marcella Cruz
Marcella Ruby
Marcella Zoe
Marcella Kay
Marcella Pilar
Marcella Daphne
Marcella RoseCyrilla doesn't have the bgreatest sound to my ears. Plus, it makes me think of a disease / medical condition. Perhaps I'm thinking of cillia (biology, anyone?) Whatever the reason, I don't have happy images in my head with Cyrilla. The meaning doesn't even come into the equation for me. But it is a feminine classic and deserves some attention:Cyrilla Mary
Cyrilla Jane
Cyrilla Petra
Cyrilla Tess (a little hissy?)
Cyrilla Pearl
Cyrilla Inez
Cyrilla Phoebe
Cyrilla HelenGood luck!

Marcella Eve

Cyrilla Jane
I like the Marcella Rose because my twins names have links to flowers (their names are Jesslyn and Jazzlyn which have links to Jasmine and Jessamine)

They both sound feminine, though I don't care for either. I prefer Marcel (m) to Marcella. For middle names Mae, Sue, Eve, Grace, and Faith are all nice if a bit plain and used as fillers. Why not use Marylin, Susanna, Evelyn, Gracelyn, or Frances instead?

They sound feminine but Marcella can mean male and Cyrilla means lordly

I don't think it matters too much what a name means. As long as it isn't something bad or can be translated as offensive. I know a woman named Marcella and it works fine.

I know both and they are friends of my meme's so I've grown up with the names and I really like them.
