What do you think of the masculine name of Jalen? Pronounced jay-len

I REALLY dislike it. We had a ton of boys and girls with this name about 1-2 years ago at our hospital, but it's died down a little lately. I've seen multiple spellings, and it seems modern, made-up and trendy to me. That and it makes me think of jail. :-/

Don't like it at all. It seems androgynous and very tryndee to me.

I like Jay on its own (more on a girl though), but I don't like any names that add bits to it like Jayden, etc.

nmsaa, I dislike the -lin sounding names. Jalen doesn't strike me as very masculine either.

I don't care for it. I think it just has a bland, generic sound to it that a lot of -alen and -aylen, -aden and -ayden names share.I could get behind Galen with slightly more enthusiasm, though. I've met Galens before the -aylen and -alen wave really picked up, and between my acquaintance with it and its actual history, I can swallow that more easily.

I love Galen for a boy. It doesn't seem trendy in the least, oddly enough, even though Jalen seems extremely trendy to me. BTW, we had a baby at work about 3 years ago and her name was Jalen and she had a sister named Gaylen. :-/
