Wdyt of Aileen?
Yes, I know it's my name, but I've always wondered what other people's opinions of it were. It's pronounced the traditional Gaelic way, "eye-leen". If you positively hate it, just flat out say it, It's not going to kill me =P.

I like the look of Aileen better than Eileen, but I'm more inclined to prn. Aileen as ay-leen than eye-leen. BTW, I have a good friend from the Philippines named Ailyn, which is pronounced just like Aileen (well, I think it's supposed to be more like eye-lynn but she tolerates everyone saying it as eye-leen, lol).

I don't care for it at all. I don't like any names that end in that een sound, such as Kathleen, Maureen, etc. Just something about the sound I don't like.
I think it's brave of you to ask people honest opinions about your name, though. I'd never do it. I know I'd get my feelings hurt.

Aileen's a lovely name. I prefer Eileen, not for any particular reason, but Aileen's nice, too.I thought the traditional way of pronouncing it was ay-leen, though--just as Aidan is ay-den, not EYE-dan.Array

I'm not a huge fan of Aileen (I've only ever heard it pronounced like you), although I do like Eileen a bit more. I think it's coz the Aileen spelling makes me think of Aileen Wuornos (I'm sorry I bet you get that often!), and don't actually know anyone with the name

Yeah I hate that connection, too. Oh well.

I like Aileen. My name is Kathleen so it's a little similar.

I think it's very pretty. I prefer Eileen, but seeing Aileen every once in a while is nice because it looks fresh. I like a lot of -leen -lene names.

Just reading the post below about what people don't like about their names... And, well, you'd get annoyed at me because I would always mispronounce it in your case as the only Aileen I have ever met pronounces it "ay-LEEN". I would call her Alien just to annoy her. :) It's nms, but I don't hate it. One note though, it looks 'younger' than Eileen.

I like Aileen I think it's pretty.I have a good friend called Aileen.All the Aileens I know are Ay-leen though. I don't care for Eileen/Eye-leen much.

I like the sound of it well enough, although I don't really love any of the -leen names except for Cathleen/Kathleen. Aileen has a fun, mid-century feel to it, imo.

I like the sound of it, and I love the song, "Come On Eileen." I know the spelling is different, but that's what I think of when I hear "eye-leen."

I think that song is probably a sore spot for many of the Eileens/Aileens of the world. :-/

I like it. My best friend's sister is named Aileen. I think it's one of those names that's underappreciated.
