I remember when I was in high school, a group of us in English class had to act out several scenes from the play The Matchmaker by Thornton Wilder. There was a character in the play named Malachi. Not one of us had a clue as to how to pronounce it and we all said, "Mal-ATCH-ee"! The teacher acted like we were all idiots.
I really don't care for the name (pronounced either the way we idiots were or the correct way)--I think it sounds somewhat stupid.

I prn it MAL-a-kai. I love it. I think it's a strong but fun name that hasn't yet been overused. It would be a nice surprise for me to meet a young Malachi.

I can't stand the prononciation, sorry... I am too used to the Hebrew one (mah-lah-khee).

Well I don't mind the name, but I pronounce it as mal-uh-kye.

I believe there will be many pronunciation problems for the majority of people pronounce the name mal-uh-kye. I dislike the name because of the beginning syllable mal. Mal makes me think of malice, malpractice, malevolent etc.. I'm not sure what the prefix mal specifically means but it has to be closely related "to hurt".

I dislike it. too hard to pronounce if you aren't familar with biblical characters.

I really, really like the name Malachi! I think it is underused, and hopefully it will stay that way. I would hate for a such a wonderful name to be spoiled by popularity. :/I also really liked Micah.
