Esmeralda...?
What do you think of the name Esmeralda? It seems to me a bit uppity. Then again, there's the whole gypsy side of it from Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I think it's a pretty name, quite whimsical in it's sound really. To me it's a gypsy, hippy kind of name, which is fine by me.

I like it.

I think it's yuck- I don't like the way it sounds regardless of associations. I would prefer to just name my daughter Emerald, it's prettier imo.

Too frily for me to ever use it. Beseide the Hunchback thing there was a Mexican telenovela Esmeralda that my Grandmother watched all the time so I ws fed up with the name (and yes, her eyes were green AND she was blind, lol).

I find it tacky, in Italy if you meet a little Esmeralda probably her parents picked the name from some latin American soap opera.

I LOVE the name Esermalda, but then of course, the Hunchback of Notre Dame is the only animated movie I can tolerate (o:I think that Esmeralda Soleil is a beautiful combo!

I don't like Esmeralda, it's a bit frilly.

Esmeralda is pretty, but far too frilly for me. I once knew an Esmeralda, but she went by Esme.It is quite reminiscient of Hunchback of Notre Dame, but I don't think everyone would be bothered about that really. I prefer Emerald myself (but I probably wouldn't have the guts to use it)

I agree. If I ever got the guts to use Emerald, I'd probably use it as a middle name and only then if the child was a girl born in the month of May.
