Message: "Frances?" - Behind the Name

Well first off, hi, I'm new. I signed up a while ago, but this is my first foray onto the boards. I guess introductions belong in the Lounge, but I also have a name question.

I've fallen in love with Frances, especially the combo Frances Margaret (Margaret was my grandmother's name) The comments on the name page didn't seem too positive, but I was wondering what you guys thought.

Loving Frances right now, I'm wondering if it will increase in popularity soon as I have been hearing more and more people talk about it in real life and its been popping up here, again.

I adore Frances. However I would personally use it as a mn, because I'd be afraid that people would call her "Fran" which I hate!

Frances is wonderful and refreshing, and Frances Margaret is adorable.

Frances is a favorite of mine, although it is hard to imagine it on a little girl today. I think that the flow of Frances Margaret is a little bit off though. Maybe Frances Margot, it sounds better imo but still sort of honors your grandmother.

I really like Frances (I really like the nn Frankie on a girl) and Margaret is a family name for me too. Frances Margaret is nice, classic, and strong.

I love the name Frances. I'm not keen on Margaret; I prefer Margot or Megan. However, because it's a family name, I would stick with Margaret. It seems like a heavy combination that she will grow into quite nicely.

I like it. Both are very classy. My Great-Grandmother was name Mary Frances, so I guess that explains why I like it so much :)

I love Frances and Margaret is a nice classic, they just sound boring and dated together.
But, since I plan to use a honoring name that everyone finds dated I say go for it:-)

I love both Frances and Margaret. I'm not wild about them together, but the combo sounds fine and I can appreciate the meaning it has for you since the middle name is after your grandmother. :)
