HelpTwinkles and Star
I thought this was noteworthy. A girl who delivered today at my hospital has the fn Twinkles (Twinkles Alexandra, goes by Twinkles, sometimes nn Twinkie); and she named her baby girl Star. I know people are going to jump all over this with negative comments, but I can't help admiring the independent spirits of both Twinkles and her own mother.
This is probably the most unusual name I've encountered in a long while.
Last year I met a little girl named Segovia, and an unrelated little boy named Lake. I rather like both of those.
So... what do y'all think?

I can't say I'd assume Twinkles had a PhD, but that's of course judging a book by its cover. I've known smart/nice people named Trinket & Precious, and mean and/or uneducated/prejudiced ones named John & Mary. Star is not a bad name, and it is kind of cute that Star is the child of Twinkles. Much better than had they been siblings, for sure. :b

I have to admit that I've liked Star for a while. It's a GP, but I find it very cute and might use it as a mn.
Twinkles is adorable, but I think it is a little too much to be a real name. I'd love it as a nn for something, it's very cool.

Twinkles is a name I can't really take seriously on an adult, I just can't help imagining a cringeworthy situation with someone turning up at a job interview and introducing herself as Ms Twinkles _____
Star is a name I might like, if it didn't have a bit of a "stripper's name" aura to it. I love Stella.

I in fact knew a girl named Star-her mother was a romantic-type person, though Star was very pratical, and could ride any horse ever saddled.

I think Twinkles is absolutely terrible and would be a very difficult name to live with. Star isn't that bad. NMSAA but it coule be a lot worse and it is kind of sweet.

I think Star is not that unusual, though a bit cheap and tacky sounding. Twinkles sounds like a My Little Pony or a Beanie Baby. Some might call it an independence of spirit. Others might call childish and also a bad pun. :)
Segovia is a fairly common Spanish last name, so I don't usually thik of it as a first name. Lake is getting old already.

Twinkles seems like a pet name to me. It's very 'cutesy' and just seems more appropriate as a kitty name, imo.
Star is nice enough. It's not something I like or would ever use but I have nothing against the name itself.

I adore Lake for a girl I'd use it I also love Star (Starlight especially) but not Twinkles.

Twinkles is pretty bad, but I don't mind Star. I've always liked Lake for a girl- never thought of it much for a boy- but I think I might like it better for a boy.

Twinkie is a slang term for a dumb blonde, but I do admire their Bravery in naming. I prefer Sparkle nn Sparky, but I would only use it as a nick name,Segovia is interesting, Lake for a boy is kind of cool.
