Burt
It only really caught my eye -after- I posted the "worst names you can think of" which I'm not sure if that's good or not.
so apparently, baby-gaga people don't like it.question:
can you think of any names Burt could be short for, besides Burton.
&
What do you actually think of it? personally, I can see it on any age, and think it's a bit spunky, and not too over the top.

Well, I love Burton, but I think Robert or Albert would be cool too.

I really don't like Burt, and yeh, I can only think of Burton as a full form. It reminds me of Burt Reynolds. I'd assume it was a respelling of Bert but in Scotland, Bert is pronounced with an "eh" sound - Behrt - and they're different anyway. I suppose it could be short for anything Bert is, like Albert, Gilbert, Cuthbert (which I really like).

Bartholomew? That's what I would see as a good nn for it. The name Burt itself makes me think of Sesame Street, but as a nn for a much stronger, different name I don't have a problem with it.

Hm, I can see the appeal for sure. Although it's not my style.
I think it'd be fine on its own, or Bert short for Albert would be cool.

I really don't care for it... strongly. Burton is even a family surname for me, and I was raised in Burtonsville, MD who was named after my ascendant Isaac Burton, but I still find it very abrasive almost laughable.

i think Tony could be a better nn than Burt. i think Burt is ugly and dated.

Hm, I like it with a U much more, for some reason.
I also don't see it as dated, because I can't really think of anyone with the name or anything like that.

I'd rather see Bert, it looks more appealing.Full names for Bert:
Bertram
Bertrand
Berthold
Bertil
Colbert
Gilbert
Robert

You know, I didn't even think of Robert, which is sad since that is my fiance's name.
thank you for the suggestions. =]

Robert, Albert, Bertrand, Gilbert...I think it is rather neat, I think Tuesday put me on it ages ago. I think it is very solid and namey and I like how it looks. I wouldn't use it but I like it a lot more than Bert.
