Mortimer
Am I way off base in liking this name? It's always been one of my favorites for a boy...What do you guys think?

It is too close to "mortician." Very macabre.

Am I the only one?Am I the only person here that thinks Mortimer screams "old man"? That's just the picture I get in my head. Maybe if I ran across a baby Mortimer that would change a little... although I still wouldn't like it.

I don't know why, but it sounds evil

I don't like it. For some reason it totally hurts my eyes.

I can see the appeal. I like the sound on its own.The only down side is the root "mort" which is also part of mortician, and means death. Also note that mortgage also has the root, "mort" which leads me to believe that mortgages were designed to be paid until death. Which leads me to wonder if there is a better way to own a home.

I can't see it on a real person. It seems like such a character name to me. Actually my husband had a thing with that name when he was a kid and into high school. His big stuffed penguin, Mr. Penguin, has the first name of Mortimer. Said stuffed penguin is actually in the room with me right now. :)

I really like it. I think it's very charming. Reminds me of a character I really liked from an improv musical once (don't ask). I'd love to meet someone named Mortimer.

I must admit I would like to see itI think it is sort of appealing in a very dark and murmury way. I don't like it and I wouldn't add it to my PNL, but I definitely don't think you are "way off base."

like Mortimer Snerd?Sorry, don't see t as a reasonable idea. Might be kind of cute for a cat.

I can't really get past that part.

I like it, in theory, but I never use it. One positive association is the fact its Cary Grant's character in Arsenic and Old Lace. :-)

It's okay. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. It seems more of a middle name to me, just because I'd hate to see it shortened to "Morty."

No, it's NOT way off base to like it-Mortimer is one of my favorite guys names....
But then again, some of my other favorites are Midas, Steffan, and Zypher-some people just find those names a little weird I guess.
