WDYTO Jenise?
After reading the below Aiden post, I saw RoxStar post about little girls named Janice, and one is pronounced like Denise with a J. Well, that got me thinking about my best friend's mn. It IS Denise with a J, Jenise. I have always liked it because it's really uncommon (I'm into uncommon mns since mine is Marie), but my friend doesn't like it because she thinks she might be named after one of her father's ex-girlfriends. (This may or may not be true, long story, needless to say her mom knows nothing of it!) I have thought about trying to incorporate her name into a combo to honor her when I have kids, but I don't really like her first name (Tara, kinda dated) so I thought maybe using her mn would work. So, anyway, what do you guys think of Jenise?

I think I had Janiece on the namelist when my daughter was born. I like the spelling Jenise, too. Makes more sense than changing the common pronunciation of Janice.

Jenise is fine, but I prefer the sound of the name Tara. And, I have to wonder about whether your friend would feel honored by you using the part of her name that she herself doesn't like...

Oh she likes the name itself, just not the reason she got it. And she really isn't sure if that's even really the reason she got it.

I like it much better than Janice / Janis. However, I don't really like the spelling and I think I prefer Jenese. It's pretty.

About that...I LOVE the name Jenise! But I've always spelt it Genisse .It's so much more uncommon yet not to difficult to spell or pronounce.

When I took French in high school, the teacher would always call the students by what their names were equivalent to in French (for instance, William would be called Guillaume), or, if there was no exact equivalent, as close as she could come, or, if she couldn't even come close, allow them to choose a French name. Anyway, she said that my name in French was pronounced like you're pronouncing Jenise, Denise with a J. I always thought it was pretty. I really like Jenise.
Edited to add: I think it's a lot better than Tara, which to me seems, not ugly, but insubstantial.

I'm not horribly fond of either Janice or Denise, though they aren't bad. I don't like Jenise, though. I'd much prefer Tara to Jenise.
