WDYTO Jerusha?
I love this name. I've only met one Jerusha, an acquaintance that my daughter had about six or seven years ago. I remember feeling admiration for her parents for giving her such a beautiful, yet underused name.It seems a lot of people find it too strange. Sometimes I feel that it sounds like it should be the name of one of the horrid kids in "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," but...no, I still love it.What do you think of Jerusha?

Its a beautiful name way too underused in my opinion, I would love to see a gir/woman with this name

I quite like it. I don't think it's because of the sound, but more because of the character in 'Daddy-Long-Legs'- she's kind of great. She was mostly known as Judy, but I think Jerusha is cooler.
I actually met a Jerusha a while ago but didn't really talk to her so no associations from her.

It is the "ru" that makes it sound like a horrid kid. Veruca, Prudence, Rupert, Gertrude, Rudolf. Ru is an unfashionable sound right now but I love it. I also love Jerusha I find it very interesting, fun to say and hear, and generally delightful.

Do you like Ruth, too? :-)I think Ruby is an exception...it's very popular in Britain.

I do like Ruth, but it doesn't sound too snotty so I didn't include it :)
Ruby might be an exception, you're right.

Ruby isn't harsh. Not like Ruth, Rupert, Rudolph, Jerusha - they have a harsher sound than Ruby. Plus Ruby has always ranked - look at its' charts.I do agree the RU sound isn't popular. It's unforunate, as my boyfriend tastes tend to run with what is popular and mine don't. I'd love a Ruth and Jerusha.

My mom liked this name.Quite a lot. She thought of giving my brother the name Rachel Jerusha if he had been a girl. I'm never quite sure whether or not I like it. I actually used it in an e-mail address for years. Overall, though, it is a very pretty name.

LOL about Jerusha sounding like it should be the name of a character in "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory." I didn't realize that it was similar to Veruca until now. As far as the name goes, I don't care for the sound of it but I appreciate its unusualness. Your fascination with Jerusha reminds me of my liking of Ravenna. Sometimes it sounds dark and sinister and reminds me of "revenge", but I still find it beautiful. Same with Isis, which reminds me of "icy" and "icee." It's a lovely name though.
