Icelandic Family I met at Target (yes, strange, I know)
I actually met and Icelandic family at my local Target. Now, what people from Rikeyavik (sp?) were doing in suburban Long Island, I do not know. I just want opinions on their names.(Father) Jon (pron. YAHN)
(Mother) Sigurros (see-guh-ROS)
(Daughter) Halldora
(Daughter) SvanaI like Halldora, and Svana is nice enough. And yes, I know there is an Icelandic band called Sigur Ros.

OMG Sigurros!:DDDDDDDo you know if she had an accent over the O or not? And how INTERESTING, I've always been under the impression that the G sound wasn't really pronounced. But I'm not complaining, 'cause I think I might actually like that better. Ohh, that just makes me so happy! I like the other names, too (especially Halldora), but Sigurros has absolutely made my night. Joy!

My goodness, how strange to meet a person named Sigurros. Not that I know what Sigur Ros means in Icelandic. Could be like naming an American band Margaret or something. Lol.I like Halldora and Svana. They are very strong, but feminine. A nice balance.

The band Sigur Ros is actually named after one of the band members' little sister, whose name is Sigurros. It means victory rose, or something like that. I like the name. I like Svana, it reminds me of 'swan'.It is spelled Reykjavik, by the way.
