Meryl
It's my middle name. I've always thought of it as frumpy and dated, like something that would have had a short burst of popularity in the forties. I'm sixteen, so that's not a positive for me.What do you think of the name? My mom loves it, but then again, she was raised in the forties. It's to honor her father Meyer.

I used to hate the name Meryl but it's gradually grown on me. It reminds me of Meredith which i think is a really cool name, and it also makes me think of Meryl Streep (whose real name is Mary Louise), who I think is a really good actress.

One of my absolute favorites. I considered it seriously for my daughter, and I would again if I had another daughter. I love the letters and the sound - so bright, lilting, and tidy. *sigh*I've heard of a Meryl who is a young woman - I think she was a competitive ice skater? - and I think it is very appealing on a young person, not frumpy at all. The only other Meryl I've heard of is Streep, and she's one of the most graceful old women around IMO.

Not sureI am first reminded of Merle, Beryl and Cheryl and I cannot stand those three. Meryl Streep is a good association as I think she's a wicked actress.I also find the name a bit frumpy too. I really dislike Muriel (and Mariel) but I think I prefer those. One bonus, I think Merry would be charming from Meryl.

I'm not really a fan of it. For some reason I find it almost very pretty, but instead kind of awkward to pronounce. I met a Meryl recently who is 19 and it through me off because before I'd only thought of it as a name for an older woman.

It does have a little bit of frump to it, but it's more the sweet kind of frump.

I think it's really pretty, actually. An awesome middle name.
