Alaia
My latest obsession for a girl is Alaia. I just think it has the nicest meaning.WDYT of Alaia? Any nickname ideas besides Allie? (Edited to say that I don't like Allie, and wouldn't call her that, it was just the only nn I could come up with for Alaia) (eta) Pronounciation- how do you say it? I pronounce it Ah-lay-ah, and thats the only way I like it. Do you say it differently? How does it sound with big sisters Xanthe, Sonnet, Adelaide and Summer?WDYT of the combo Alaia Opal Zipporah? Opal is after my grandma, so that's set, but I'll happy take suggestions for a different second middle name, if you have any.

Alaia (Ah-LAY-ah)
I love the name; I would probably us one of the following: Alaia Opal Marie (I know it's overused, but I love Marie!) Alaia Opal Vivian Alaia Opal Margaret (Margaret means pearl, so I think it works!) Alaia Opal Bethany Alaia Opal Noe Alaia Opal Amarie

Alaia is pronounced ah-LIE-ah. There was a child with that name in my kindergarten group when I did an internship in Basque Country and I've loved it ever since. The only nickname I can think of that I like is Laia, but I don't think it needs one at all. I think it goes well with Xanthe and Adelaide but doesn't fit in with Sonnet and Summer at all. The combo isn't my thing at all, so I can't say.

Alaia is certainly interesting looking and based on where it's from, I'd say it's pronounced ah-LIE-ah. I can't say I love the 'lie' part, however. I agree with you that ah-LAY-ah is prettier. I don't see why you can't use that.

I was pronouncing it A-lai-a or a-LAI-a, with the 'lai' sounding like the word 'lie', but that's probabaly wrong since I don't know anything about Basque pronuncianion... I think Laia is a better nn than Allie.
I think it's a different style than Xanthe, Sonnet, Adelaide, and Summer all together, but it could go with Xanthe or Adelaide, and maybe Sonnet.
I really like just Alaia Opal. Alaia Opal Zipporah seems too overdone, or something... I would prefer Alaia Opal Eponine, Alaia Opal Judith, or Alaia Opal Victoria. Alaia Opal Xanthe would be good too, unless that's already being used for another fn.

I like Alaia (which I pronounce "uh-LAY-uh"), though I prefer Aglaia.I don't think the name necessitates a nickname; nevertheless, I suppose I'd opt for Laia.I love Alaia as a sister to Xanthe! I dislike the flow of Alaia Opal Zipporah.

I like the look and sound of it but I say ah-LAH-ya. Laia could be a nickname. I know a little Italian girl named Laia. I dislike Allie.I don't like how Alaia and Adelaide start with the same letter, but they are okay together anyway.Alaia Opal is nice. I like Zipporah too but not really with the other two names.

I like Laia. I don't like Allie eitheer, if I had an Alaia she wouldn't be called that. The same letter thing doesn't bother me. I'd prefer it if they all started with different letters, but it's not important enough to me to not use one of my favourites because of it.Thanks :)

If you were to pronounce it like 'a-LAY-a' (which I think sounds pretty), you could get the nickname Leia from it.As I pronounced it there, things that work are:Alaia Xanthe
Alaia Sonnet
Alaia SummerAnd in terms of the combo, I'm not so fond of Zipporah. If you must have a 'Z' name, Zelda is good (Alaia Opal Zelda or, if you want, Zelda Opal Alaia).

Xanthe, Sonnet and Summer would be her sisters names, not used as middle names.Laia is a good idea- yes, thats the way I prn. it.A Z name isn't necessary, I just like Zipporah. I'm not fond of Zelda but thanks for the suggestion.
