Elmira, I think, could be revived into the hipster set. Though past associations with the name have been less than ideal, that is often criteria enough to be revived into the hipster set. It also has the very popular El prefix and the very attractive diminutive Mira. I also think Almira is pretty, but not as classic.
I pronounce it el-MY-ruh.

I love seeing old names brought back the same way I love seeing an old brick building renovated. It warms my heart.
Yes, I can definitely see Elmira coming back. If Hazel, Josephine and Ada can find an audience, then why not Elmira too?

I confess I prefer Elvira to Elmira, except I use the Spanish pronunciation of Elvira to avoid the vampiress association. But Elmira has an air of mystery to it that I find very attractive too.
I'm a big fan of Myra ("MIE-ruh") as well.

It's the name of a few cities in North America, as well as a college (Elmira College in the city of Elmira, NY). That's what I think about. The city and college in NY are pronounced el-MY-ruh.
I don't see it becoming very popular. It just doesn't have the same feel as the other El- names. But I could definitely see it as a "hipster" name like you said.

When I hear Elmira, I think of the the annoying, stupid redheaded girl from Tiny Toons. I wonder how many other people in my age group do as well.

I don't personally care for it much at all. I doubt it will become popular, but anything is possible.

On "Tiny Toon Adventures", there was a rather stupid character named Elmira. I don't care for it because of that.

I used to watch that show all the time and I did't remember that character's name. I remember Monty though and Babs...The rest I'm not sure of.

Well, I didn't know that. I suppose it could be revived with the hipster crowd, but I wonder how many of THEM grew up watching the show. It's hard to say.

I can't being myself to pronounce it like that, as it is also a family name wherein we say "MY."
