Ollivander
So I was watching the first Harry Potter movie with some friends yesterday and Harry went into Ollivander's wand shop, and one of my friends (one who NEVER mentions names, btw) said "I really like the sound of Ollivander, it's just so cool."
I said "Maybe you could use it as a middle name."
WDYT? Would that be so ridiculous, for someone who is, really, a huge Harry Potter fan to use Ollivander as a MIDDLE name?
She mentioned the combo Jack Ollivander. WDYT?
*But we're only 18, she's not planning on kids for while.

Meh...I like Ollivander in theory, but it's far too nerdy for me to actually use.

Oh, I really like it! I'm not into Harry Potter, so I probably wouldn't use it. But the sound is very pleasing, I prefer it tons to boring old Alexander and it would be a serious contender to my favourite alternative Oleander. (Which I love, as it has the nature connection as well)

I think it's cool. I know someone who'd consider using it as a first name if she had a boy.Jack Ollivander is an awesome combo.

I really love it. Ollivander does have a nice ring and sound to it.

It's a cool alternative to the boring-yet-classy Alexander.

Cool beansJack Ollivander would be righteous. I don't see anything wrong with using it. Though, as I said in another post, I am a geek, and pretty comfortable with incorporating something a little offbeat into my children's names. So maybe I'm biased.

It... reminds me of eggs. I have absolutely no clue why. What does Ollivander have to do with eggs? Strange. I can't shake the association, otherwise I might like the sound. I do like Oliver and Evander, anyway.

I don't think it's ridiculous. First of all, Ollivander does sound cool. Second, I don't have a problem with honoring after a book character, or even just finding a name in a book that you like and using it.Did you like the movie? I was thinking of seeing it, but I'm still not sure if I should wait until it comes out on dvd.

The one we were watching was the FIRST one, it's been on DVD for a long time ;)
The sixth one was pretty good, but if you remember the book really well you might have some issues with it. The effects and everything were great.

Oh, ok! I haven't read past the second book, but I've seen all of the movies except for the latest one. Thanks for sharing! :)
