Madeline
A friend of mine just had a little girl she named Madeline. How do you personally pronounce this? I would say MAD-e-line, but I've had another friend tell me it's pronouced the same as Madelyn.
I'd just like a heads up before I actually go see them and make a fool out of myself. Heh.

Everyone I've met with the name Madeline has pronounced it like Madelyn, so I automatically want to pronounce it like Madelyn when I see the name.

Mad-eh-lin is the more traditional English pronunciation, I think is mad-eh-LINE is more modern and seems to have recently become popular due to the books. I would say it however the person wants me to say it. Its just one of those names with multiple correct pronunciations.

Like Mad-e-line. I don't know how people get Madelyn (its spelled line not lyn) but I like Mad-e-line best.

I pronounce it the same as Madelyn, but either are acceptable. The way you're pronouncing it I'd spell Madeleine, but that one can be pronounced like Madelyn too.

I see this as strictly Mad-e-LINE(in English anyway, I believe the french pronunciation may be different. I pronounce Madeleine as Mad-e-len/lyn
