LOVE IT! but only as a nickname for James, but still it's soooo adorable! I know an adult Jamie who hates that his full name isn't James, I think a Jamie would appreciate having a more grown-up name, but I loooove Jamie for a little boy!

Love it!As a nn, that is. I like it enough I wouldn't hate seeing it on its own, but I'm a stickler for formal names. It's just such a kind but strong name, and I love the sound. Plus there are a few literary things I associate it with that I like. James nn Jamie is at the top of my list, and DH likes James but I've yet to convince him that Jamie is awesome. He thinks it's too girly.

It's fine as a nn I suppose. It sounds rather cutesy on an adult.

I've always considered Jamie to be masculine and abhor the name on a girl. That being said, I do think it's more of a nickname for James, Jameson, etc. than a given name -- though I know a guy called Jamie whose given name is Benjamin.

My opinion on this is pretty well-known already, but since this is a Jamie post, I will go ahead and state it again.I think that Jamie is too feminine for a boy. My husband, as a middle-schooler, felt forced to change his nickname from Jamie to Jim because of teasing.Jamie has been popular for girls, as is commonly known. Although I really dislike Jamie for a girl, I think it became a girls' name for a reason, and that reason is that it is somewhat feminine, too feminine for a boy.In addition, I think that Jamie on its own is too nicknamey. I would rather see a James nicknamed Jamie, than just Jamie.

I prefer James. Jamie could be a nickname. It's not one of my faves, though.
