Daniel
Please sell Daniel to me. Or, if you hate it, tell me why. I'm looking for all opinions because for some reason it's been on my mind all day. Thanks! :)

Daniel has a nice ring to it. I'm not really a fan of Dan, but Daniel is short enough that a nickname isn't necessary.

Nothing wrong with it. It's a handsome name. I'd just never use it because it's been overused, and any name that is overused becomes boring.

It's my stepfather's name. I think it's quite a handsome name. The nickname Danny is very cute. I could easily picture an adorable little boy called Danny who grows up into a handsome Daniel as an adult.

I've always enjoyed Daniel. Danny is foul and vile, but Dan is brisk and energetic and nice. Daniel was a family name in my DH's paternal line: they used to give sons an H name (Herbert and Harold; possibly others) and Daniel as a mn, but they were always known by Daniel. Odd habit. Given a few extra sons, I'd have used Daniel eagerly, though probably without the H name.Tradition is a good reason. It's never been out of use; everyone can spell and pronounce it easily; and who can resist those biblical lions?

Daniel is one of my favorite boys names, probably because one of my best friends has this name, and he means a lot to me. Though even before I knew him I liked this name. I like names that end in -el a lot, and it has a lovely meaning.
