Jodie
What do you think of Jodie for a girl? I think it's really sweet. I also like Jody.I was surprised to see that Jodie and Jody never made the top 100 in the US. Jodi did, but not very high either and only for a few years. I would have thought it was much more common in the 70s and early 80s for girls along with Jamie etcIt doesn't have that many commonly used spelling variants either unlike Carly (I always wondered why that never made the top 100 either but that can be explained because many many different spellings were used). I don't think it's like that with Jodie because I've never heard of a Jodee or Jodey. Only three spellings seem to be used more often.Do you know anyone named this? How would you spell it? Is it trashy or 70s dated?Oh and I heard Jodie used to be pretty common in Australia is that true? Or in the UK? Is it common where you live and where are you from? What's your favorite spelling?Does it work as a nickname for Josephine? If so which spelling would make most sense? Jody (like Posy), Jodie (like Josie)?

I quite like it and think it makes a nice nn for Josephine. I'm in the UK and I've never come across one myself, but I'm sure they're around.

I was at school with a Josephine known as Jodie, but I wouldn't call it common for either gender, though there was also a male racing driver called Jody Scheckter ... not sure what it was short for.I don't find it trashy: definitely working-class, though my schoolmate wasn't.I've heard that it can be a nickname for Judith as a change from Judy. Never met one, though.

Jodie is cute, spunky. As a nick-name, though. For Josephine, or perhaps Josette. I prefer the Jodie spelling. I never knew anyone named Jodie, but that's just chance. Certainly not a trashy name. Nor particularly.

I know/have known about 4 or 5 Jodies. I think it would work for Josephine, infact before I opened the thread I thought 'Jodie would make a good nn for Josephine'
