Foster
I really haven't heard the name Foster recently. What do y'all think? Do you like it? Dislike it? Think it's dated? It seems to be growing on me.
Any combo ideas?
Any sibset ideas? I like: Foster and Hortensia as siblings. WDYT?
And lastly, what name goes best with Foster as a couple? I've been thinking of using it for a character. I like Scarlet and Foster, but wdyt?

I actually think it is really cute. I wouldn't use it myself, because it's a surname I have no connection with and therefore it would look verrryyyy trendy, but I think it is adorable. I immediately thik of the rhyme, "Dr. Foster went to Gloucester in a shower of rain. Stepped in a puddle, right up to his muddle, and never went down there again!" The book I used to have had this awesome drawing of a portly man in bottle-green suit and bowler with a huuuuge muttonchop beard and a face of absolute indignation that made me giggle - so I see this as a proper gent, flustered, portly, funny sort of name. Foster and Hortensia is GENIUS AND I LOVE IT! It is PERFECT. Thank goodness you didn't say "I like Foster and Grace!" or soemthing. I would have cried.Hmmm combos:Foster Gerald
Foster August
Foster Howard
Foster Reginald
Foster Bertram
Foster Franklin
Foster Fortinbras
Foster Edmund-Edward (ever since you mentioned Hortensia I've just gone crazy)Scarlet and Foster is nice. I also like Edwina and Foster, Harriet and Foster, Gwendolen and Foster, Foster and Rose, and Foster and Christabel.

You've been very helpful!
That's such a lovely idea of the name- what a great association!
Thank you, I'm becoming sooo fond of Foster and Hortensia I just can't believe it.
I really quite like:
Foster August (or even Augustus)
Foster Reginald
Foster Bertram
And though I don't like the name Franklin very much, Foster Franklin just sounds so perfect when you say it aloud.
I'm liking Edwina and Foster, but I was starting to think Veronica and Foster-WDYT?

Veronica gives the duo a more dirty-thirties feel rather than quirky Victorian, esp. if they'll go by Vera and Foster or Ronnie and Foster. But I do quite like it, it's very unique and refreshing. If you're not fond of Franklin, what about Foster Francis, Foster Frank, or Foster Frederick? (I also love alliteration, can you tell)So weird about Foster meaning fetus in another language.

Yeah, I didn't really think about it, but Vera and Foster really gives that feel. I like both, for different reasons, but I will have to pick whichever feels most "right" for the story and the time period. I'm liking Foster Frederick. Or maybe even Foster Fabien? Foster Finley?Yeah it sure is strange that Foster means fetus! I never would have guessed.

Foster Finley is crusty gumshoe-tastic.

Yuck. It sounds like a job- not a given name... ok as a surname, but not as a given name.

Makes me think of the Foster's Beer commercials. I don't care for it.

Dislike it.
I find it ugly and dated, plus it's the swdish word for fetus. :P

Foster just makes me think of foster parenting and foster children, which brings back many memories of my friend's foster families, so I'm not too keen on it.
