Belle
I've really started to like the name Belle, however I'm not sure whether it can stand alone as a name or whether it should only be used as a nickname. What do you think?I dislike Isabelle, have you any other ideas for a full name for Belle? Maybelle? Also, if you think that Belle is fine as a first name, can you think of any middle name ideas?Thank you.

Annabel; Arabel; Christabel/Christobel; Claribel/Clarabel; Elsabelle (with a nod to a long-ago poster); Isobel; Jezebel; Mabel ...You'll have noticed the widespread absence of an -le ending. I much prefer a single l, and I really don't enjoy Belle as a nn or a full name. I'd rather see Bella. I didn't even like it on Snoopy's puppy sister.

Absolutely fine on it's own - it's my full name. I think it's more sophisticated than the fuller names like Isabelle. The fact that it means 'beautiful' can't hurt it either :)I do however love Mirabelle and I would have preferred to be named that instead. Belle Angelique
Belle Evangeline
Belle Leonor
Belle Viviana- it's hard to come up with combos for it!

It strikes me as insubstantial on its own. How about Annabelle, Arabelle, Rosabelle, or Mirabelle?
