Mae or May?
I can't decide if I prefer Mae or May. Do you consider them to be significantly different? If so, which one do you favor and why?

Mae is definitely my fave. May just reminds me of the month, whereas Mae seems like a beautiful name with an old world charm to it.

may is ok, but i like Mae.

I prefer Mae. It just looks better to me and they are different names. May is from the month and Mae is short for Mary in my mind, though I know they're both the second thing in actuality. I really like the "ae" visual, and while May is kind of a fuzzy name, Mae is more of a velvet.

Mae.To me, Mae just seems classy, sophisticated and timeless. May is just the month.

It depends. I like both. However if I was pairing Mae/y with other names then I'd go for whatever looks better. For example a name with a y in it would look better with the spelling Mae.

May, for sure.

I like MaeIt's a little less wordy-like (as in "May I...") and it has a quaint country charm that is just geeky enough to be cool again. May is a little more classic and graceful. I like them both really.

May!As a full name, I only like May. It's a word name and I think the month association is to nice to be lost.I appreciate Mae as a nickname (for Mary, Marianne, Madeleine, Margaret), but I still prefer the May spelling.

May, definatelyMay looks complete, more rounded and sophisticated. I don't like Mae at all, it looks childish.

I like both of them. I think that May looks much nicer, but there is something appealing about Mae. Plus I always think about how nice and smooth it would be to write "Mae." Very loopy. Usually I tend to prefer Mae when it's used as a nn and May when it's used on its own.

MaeYes, I consider them very different. I love Mae but I hate May. Why? Not sure but I think Mae looks more classic, traditional & wholesome. I know May is not a trendy spelling but a 'y' looks trendy to me in many names. So I try to stay away from it unless it is part of the common/correct/traditional spelling of a name. Examples: Sibyl and Emily need their 'y's.

I prefer May, just because to me it's prettier and reminds me of Spring, meadows, wildflowers, and butterflies. It's also my grandmother's middle name, so maybe I'm biased.

Mae, because it just looks better, and it doesn't instantly make me think of the month like 'May'

May looks dated while Mae looks trendy.

MaeMay isn't really a name to me, it's a month. Mae is a name!

Mae looks more attractive and not like the month. It's also softer.

They each give a significantly different image in my head. Obviously they sound the same, but they feel different.I prefer Mae. It's softer and makes me think of fairy dust and dancing children. May seems more solid and old-ladyish.

I currently prefer Mae; however, I also love May.

May. Mae is cuter, but May is an actual word. It's also my mn, so I'm biased...

I like them both, so I know what you mean. Mae makes me think of Mae West and has a very glamorous feel. May makes me think of the month and spring in general. Very different feels, but I like them equally well. I guess today I like Mae more, but tomorrow could be different. :)

MaeI truly prefer Mae to May. I like that it doesnt look like the month. I don't think y makes the most feminine version but thats just me. Something looks so right about Mae to me.
